Sustainability
Scrap tyre collection, casing reuse and planned distribution support the practical work of managing tyres throughout their service life.
Our practical focus is on scrap tyre collection, giving suitable casings another service life and coordinating stock and deliveries efficiently.
Scrap tyre collection
We collect scrap tyres nationwide, from dealers, fast-fits, agricultural dealers and plant hire yards. GB Tyres hold waste carrier registration CBDU210568.
When arranging scrap collection, check the waste carrier registration and retain the transfer paperwork for each load. Our team can help with collection arrangements and documentation.
The take-back offer
For every GB Tyres house-brand tyre you order — Aerotyre or Challenger — we take back a scrap tyre of the same or similar size when we deliver.
Collecting scrap tyres alongside a delivery helps you manage the tyres awaiting disposal at your premises. Ask our team to arrange take-back with your order.
Casing credit — keeping sound casings in the retread stream
Suitable truck casings can be retreaded for a further service life. Casing condition and history determine suitability, so assessment is needed before a casing can be accepted for retreading.
We operate a casing credit scheme for retreadable casings. Credit values are assessed case by case. The scheme is being introduced across accounts; contact our team to discuss eligibility and the casings you have available.
How to judge a casing is covered in the guide to retread or replace.
Where scrap material goes
End-of-life tyre recovery routes include retreading suitable casings, granulation for moulded products, shredding, cement kiln use and pyrolysis. The appropriate route depends on the material and its condition.

Our own fleet
Ninety per cent of our deliveries are made on our own fleet. Planning deliveries from our depots helps us coordinate orders, routes and customer collections.
Our delivery fleet also supports scrap tyre take-back, allowing collection to be arranged alongside qualifying orders.
Container consolidation
Around 3,600 containers arrive at our warehousing each year. Container consolidation brings together mixed stock to support the range our customers buy.
Ordering mixed sizes from one supplier helps dealers consolidate deliveries and administration.
Rolling resistance and fuel
Tyre selection is part of managing fleet fuel use. Compare the fuel efficiency, wet grip and external noise information available for each tyre alongside its suitability for the vehicle and operating conditions.
Our team can help you compare options for your duty cycle, including motorway, regional and on/off-road use.
Correct pressures and alignment are also part of managing tyre performance and running costs. Our cost per kilometre calculator compares tyre purchase price and expected service life.
